Welcome

Welcome to the 2022/2023 CSA/MRL (Mountain Region) Competitive with Fire FC!

Competitive Soccer Competitive soccer opportunities are offered starting at the age of 10 (i.e. U11). Competitive soccer consists of two main levels: Mountain Region (Formerly Western Slope State League) and CYS (Colorado Youth Soccer). Mountain Region is usually (number of teams permitting) split into two-year increments (i.e. U9/10 is one playing age bracket - so U9 teams play up a year the first year and play their true year the following year). At younger ages, Fire FC has created an opportunity for U9/10 PDP teams to participate in Mountain Region, as well as U11 Premier teams, to allow them to travel and play different competition, while minimizing the amount of travel (1.5-2 hours each way is "normal";). As our players/teams get older (U12+), Fire FC United teams usually choose to participate in Mountain Region, rather than CYS. CYS is a playing opportunity we strongly encourage our Premier teams to participate in, as the level of competition is consistently higher than Mountain Region and is against Denver-area teams. Participating in CYS does require more time and travel. With that said, Fire FC coaches keep the travel to a minimum by scheduling double-headers for away games as much as possible. Three trips per season (i.e. Fall), is usually the most any one team will travel to the front range, could be as few as two trips. United teams are allowed to play in CYS if they choose. Competitive teams typically look to attend three to five tournaments per playing year (August through June). No more than two tournaments are looked to be out-of-state, but can be if the team commits to doing so. Click here for an idea on annual costs associated with CYS participation. Premier and United teams train three times weekly with one of our licensed Fire FC coaches. If your child is still searching for more training options, see our Extra Touches program page. Other "off-season" training opportunities include: 3v3 (June through July), Winter Skills (December through February) and/or our Winter Indoor Soccer League (December through February). Guest playing opportunities in various tournaments may also be pursued. Contact Shaun at shaun@gjsoccer.org
